Last fall I was honored to photograph the new Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center & Surgical Pavilion in Needham for Bond Brothers.
The BID reached out to their patient base and asked what they wanted in a new facility. The patients wanted lots of light...
...and to have the radiation treatment “not in the basement”. So they built their Linear Accelerator on same floor as the patient’s chemo and recovery. This was no easy feat. It took over 100 tons of concrete and steel to surround the new equipment. Bond had a line of cement trucks lined up to achieve this feat. This is the unit in its final testing.
The LINAC can be used to treat lesions anywhere in or on the patient’s body.A great example of modern technology at work in our backyard.
